More importantly, German is a language not only spoken by some of the most important figures of the past, but also the present. Germany is Europe's largest economy, the chief member state of the EU, and a technological and artistic center. Germany's known for its delicious food, stunning architecture, cutting-age technology, red-line automotive industry (think Porche, BMW, Audi...), and star soccer league, among other things.

And that's just Germany: German is also widely spoken in Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, and Luxemburg. The Pope is German. Germans make up the largest ethnic group in the United States - 50% greater, in fact, than the runner-up, the Irish.
